Election Commitments Delivered for Cooma Salvos and Queanbeyan Rotary

Member for Monaro, Steve Whan, has welcomed funding allocations for two grants promised prior to the March 2023 election.

Steve Whan said "The Local Small Commitments Allocations was an election commitment which enabled me to commit to a range of small funding allocations that will directly help improve local facilities.

"I'm really pleased to deliver on my $40,000 commitment to Cooma Salvation Army to assist with their new facility. The Salvos will be delivering services to some of our community's most needy people, people in need of support, people who are homeless, at risk, or not getting the food they need.

"This Government money going toward helping the people who are often forgotten - but who most need support.

"It will also play a role in delivery of support with the Salvation Army playing an important role in emergency of natural disaster situations. 

"Queanbeyan Rotary has received $8,000 for a new storage container. Queanbeyan Rotary does a huge amount for our community and to do it they have a lot of equipment. Unfortunately, due to planned work at their existing location they have had to move their storage.

"This grant will provide a shipping container fitted out for storing that key equipment.

"Congratulations to both groups, it's great to be able to facilitate work that directly helps our community."
