50 upgrades and $2 million for Monaro schools

Thursday, 31 October 2024

The Minns Labor Government has committed more than $2 million to improving schools in the Monaro electorate, with 50 individual jobs at 18 different schools on the agenda for the 2024/25 financial year.

This funding allocation demonstrates the Minns Labor Government's commitment to keeping our schools up-to-scratch after years of neglect from the previous Liberal-National Government.

Upgrades include:

  • Repainting at Braidwood Central School to celebrate the school's 175th anniversary
  • New external fencing and a kiln for Bombala High School
  • New carpet at Queanbeyan East Public School
  • Door replacements at Cooma Public School
  • Window replacements at Nimmitabel Public School
  • New mulch for the play equipment at Bredbo Public School
  • A new MIG welder for Monaro High School
  • New sleepers for the gardens at Queanbeyan South Public School

Member for Monaro, Steve Whan said:

"This allocation of funding highlights the day-to-day work that governments do to keep our communities functioning.

"I'm proud to be a member of a government that values public education and is committed to ensuring our schools can continue to grow and improve as the facilities age.

"It might not be considered a huge announcement, but I wanted to show the people of Monaro what this daily work looks like in practice, and the efforts of the relevant Ministers, Departments, and staff."
