The Snowy Monaro region of the Monaro electorate will receive $2,795,761 in new funding to improve road safety as part of the second round of funding for regional NSW totalling $202 million provided under the Minns Labor Government's Towards Zero Safer Roads Program.
In Monaro, this latest round of funding provided under the Towards Zero Safer Roads Program will go towards:
- $2,069,761 for intersection safety improvements at Geikle Creek and Bush Park Road, East Jindabyne
- $726,000 for intersection safety improvements at Rose Valley Road and Monaro Highway, Cooma

Local residents have been heard, with two road safety initiatives addressing key safety concerns in Snowy Monaro announced by the NSW Premier, Chris Minns, and Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Jenny Aitchison.
Member for Monaro Steve Whan says more than $2.8 million in road safety improvement from the 'Towards Zero' program going to making the Monaro Highway/ Rose Valley Road intersection and Kosciuszko Road near Geikle Creek safer.
"I've had Rose Valley Road residents tell me about many very dangerous near misses as they attempt to turn right onto Rose Valley Road - particularly in winter.
"I am well aware that Rose Valley Road is not the only intersection where impatient drivers attempt risky overtakes as people wait to turn right, but its location, just after the 80km zone coming North out of Cooma mean it experiences the worst of the impatient drivers.
"Similarly, Jindabyne residents have been talking to me about the safety of the stretch of the Kosciuszko Road between Eucumbene Road and Bushy Park Road. Urgent repairs were carried out along the road - at my urging - prior to the winter season, but more needs to be done.
"I am very pleased that the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, the Hon Jenny Aitchison along with the Premier, have no allocated $726,000 to upgrade the Rose Valley Road intersection and $2,069,761 to undertake safety improvements at Geikle Creek and Bush Park intersections on Kosciuszko Road.
"The NSW Labor Government is focused on improving our local roads, that's why we directed additional funds to Snowy Monaro Regional Council for their roads and why we deliver directly to improve state roads like the Monaro Highway and Kosciuszko Road."
Round two of the Towards Zero Safer Roads Program spans three years, including the 2025/26 and 2026/27 financial years, with projects to receive the funding prioritised as needed.
