Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, and Member for Monaro, Steve Whan has ushered in a new era of vocational education and training for the local community with the official opening of the TAFE NSW Jindabyne Connected Learning Centre today.

Minister Whan cut the ribbon on the new multi-million-dollar, state-of-the-art facility, which is part of the NSW Government's new purpose-built education campus in Jindabyne. The facility also will include a new primary and secondary school.

Minister Whan said the new Connected Learning Centre is offering courses aligned to high-growth local industries such as building and construction, aged care, businesses, disability care, and early childhood education and care.

"The new Jindabyne TAFE NSW Connected Learning Centre is providing locals with access to over 30 courses this semester, allowing students to receive world-class vocational education and training in their own community," he said.

"The Connected Learning Centre is providing a much-needed boost to training opportunities for local students and providing employers with a pipeline of skilled graduates.

"Students can enrol in courses ranging from Statements of Attainment through to Diplomas - kickstarting their careers in high-growth industries."

Steve Whan said the Connected Learning Centre in Jindabyne demonstrated the NSW Government's commitment to fostering a skilled workforce and meeting industry needs.

"The courses on offer have been determined in consultation with industry to equip students with the skills, confidence, and employer connections they need to set themselves up for success," he said.

"I'm pleased to see the Connected Learning Centre in Jindabyne is expanding its offerings for regional students and delivering the right skills to support the local community."

The Connected Learning Centre delivers blended, facilitated, and online learning - backed up by Mobile Training Units, which provide the practical training TAFE is known for.

TAFE NSW has a fleet of 91 Mobile Training Units that are designed to support simulated practical training at Connected Learning Centres. Mobile Training Units ensure learners gain the practical skills they need for their chosen industry, whether that's working at heights on a construction site, or working as a barista in a cafe.
