Thredbo Village now has its own Return and Earn Express machine, making it easy for locals and visitors to be rewarded for recycling eligible bottles and cans.    

Located close to the Thredbo post office, the brand new small-format compact machine accepts all types of eligible drink containers through one chute.

Return and Earn Express Thredbo is the fifth return point in the Snowy Monaro Regional Council area, where locals have already returned more than 31 million containers for recycling since Return and Earn began in 2017.

Users of the Thredbo machine can receive a voucher for the refund amount which can be redeemed for cash at any Woolworths supermarket, or opt for an e-voucher or payment direct to their bank or PayPal account through the Return and Earn app.   

Recyclers can also choose to donate their refund to the local charity partner listed on the machine or the hundreds of charities listed on the Return and Earn app.  

Member for Monaro Steve Whan said “I am particularly pleased to see LAOKO as the local donation partner on the Thredbo machine. Locals all know the great work LAOKO does with funds raised going to support their 24-hour, year-round wildlife rescue service for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in the Snowy Monaro Region.

“It’s great to see the first Return and Earn machine in Thredbo. We want all visitors and locals to do their bit for the environment by making sure containers are recycled wherever possible and don’t end up in landfill or polluting a very special environment.

“Local recyclers can also donate their refunds to the latest state-wide recycling appeal supporting Youth Off The Streets and their work providing crisis support, education, housing and employment services for vulnerable young Australians.”  

The new Return and Earn Express machine is located at 9 Mowamba Place, Thredbo and is open from 8am – 8pm, seven days a week.
