Googong Public School is set to receive a major upgrade as the NSW Labor Government continues its historic investment to boost regional education infrastructure across the state.

As part of the NSW Labor Government's long-term plan to rebuild public education, the 2024-25 Budget is delivering an historic $1.4 billion for new and upgraded schools in regional NSW, to ensure every student across NSW has access to high-quality school facilities.

At Googong Public School, the Stage 2 upgrade will deliver a school expansion program to support this growing community, which continues to expand. The project will include the delivery of additional classrooms, increasing the school's permanent capacity to 1,000 students.

Googong Public School includes 30 classrooms; three support classrooms; four special program rooms; a library, hall, and canteen; out of hours care facilities, a covered outdoor learning area landscaped outdoor play areas and a sports court.

In addition to the public school upgrade, a new public high school is also being delivered for the Googong community. The new public high school will be delivered on Day 1, Term 1, 2027.

The site for the new Googong High School has now been confirmed as 200 Wellsvale Drive, in the heart of Googong.

The new high school will have modern classrooms, specialist support classes as well as specialist classrooms for science, woodwork, metalwork, performing arts, and hospitality.

In addition to the new high school in Googong, an upgrade to nearby Jerrabomberra High School will expand the school to cater for up to 1,000 students.

Minister for Education and Early Learning, Prue Car said:

"This is great news for Googong families, and I am pleased the Minns Labor Government will deliver the critical education infrastructure this community needs.

"Our government is committed to delivering high-quality education infrastructure across regional NSW, and ensuring that every family, no matter where they live, can access a world-class public education."

Member for Monaro, Steve Whan said:

"The NSW Government is delivering a pipeline of school infrastructure projects to help cater for population growth by planning new and upgraded schools now and into the future.

"These projects for the Googong community are much-needed additions to the region and exemplify the NSW Government's commitment to investing in and supporting growing regional communities.

"It's great to see we will have a bigger public school, as well as progress on the delivery of our new high school with the acquisition of the site. These are projects which will benefit students in our community for years to come."

Googong Public School, Principal Rebekah Lindsay said:

"We are thrilled about the upcoming upgrade to our school. This investment will provide students in our growing community with the facilities they need to succeed.

"The upgrade will not only support our current students but will also support new families joining our strong and vibrant community.

"We appreciated the NSW Government's commitment to improving education in regional areas, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this upgrade will have on our school and community."
