Funding available for Monaro community sport
Community sports clubs in the Monaro electorate can now apply for funding to purchase new equipment, upgrade facilities, and deliver programs as part of the Local Sport Grant Program.
The program provides $4.65 million in funding to NSW sporting organisations with $50,000 available per electorate and grants up to $20,000 now available to clubs and associations.
In 2022/23, $3.5 million was awarded for 592 projects, including development clinics, uniforms and programs.
Member for Monaro Steve Whan said:
"Our grass roots sporting clubs are a core part of building the healthy active lifestyles that bring pleasure to so many- and help avoid costly health problems.
"Tens of thousands of locals turn out to play sport, and volunteer to run it, every week in Monaro. This grant program can make a small contribution to helping get new programs going or improve facilities."
Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:
"The NSW Government understand the vital role community sport plays in keeping people health, active, and socially connected.
"Never was this more evident than during recent natural disasters and the pandemic.
"The Program will provide vital funds for community sport to purchase equipment, improve facilities and deliver programs that enable people of all ages and abilities to participate and enjoy the benefits of sport and active recreation.
Applications in the 2023/24 Local Sport Grant Program close 27 November 2023.
