Bungendore Tennis Club wins funding for new clubhouse
Member for Monaro, Steve Whan, says a $300,000 grant for Bungendore Tennis Club will produce better facilities encouraging more participation for the local community.
Steve Whan said "Bungendore Tennis Club came to see me just after I was elected to tell me how important this project was. The club did not have access to toilet and change facilities next to the courts.
"This grant comes from the NSW Government's Infrastructure Grants ClubGrants Category 3 Funds, which reinvests gaming machine profits back into the community. The grants are decided by an independent panel.
"Congratulations to Bungendore Tennis Club for their success, I look forward to seeing the new facilities when complete and hopefully having a game with some of the members.
"The grants program also allocated $300,000 toward the new aquatic centre project for Bungendore. QPRC applied for this grant funding, and I'm pleased they have received it - though nothing that the overall project cost will require funding from a number of different sources.
"I'm very pleased to see these allocations for Monaro. As with any grants program, there is a finite grant allocation and I do know there are groups with worthwhile projects who were not successful, I'll continue to work with them on future applications."
Club President Keith BenderĀ said, "The club committee is elated and extremely grateful to receive funding for a new clubhouse. It will make such a difference to the families with children using the tennis facility, kids attending tennis lessons and students participating in the local school tennis program."
