Braidwood Central School’s historic honour roll to be conserved with War Memorials Fund grant.
Braidwood Central School’s historic honour roll recording former students who served our country in war will receive some much-needed conservation work thanks to a $7,412.90 grant from the War Memorials fund.
Member for Monaro, Steve Whan, said “when I attended the ANZAC day commemoration in Braidwood this year, the local RSL sub-branch told me about this project and their application for funding.
“I’m delighted they have been successful in getting the funds. This restoration work is a great cross over in honouring the people who served, and sacrificed, for our country and in making their lives and sacrifice relevant to today’s school students.
“Congratulations to the Braidwood RSL Sub-Branch for their work on this project and on the work they do for veterans and the community. Terry, Peter and their team put in a lot of hard work, and it is appreciated.
“This grant is one of 22 across the state to receive a share of over $125,000 in funding thanks to the NSW Government in Round 2 of the Community War Memorials Fund.”
In announcing the grants, the Minister for Veterans David Harris said “I am pleased to announce this funding, which will be used to fund important projects around the state. War memorials are a vital part of our community that reflect over 100 years of our veterans’ service and sacrifice.
“A total of $125,189.90 was awarded to local councils, RSL sub-Branches and community groups, with grants ranging from $1,600 to $10,000 to fund conservation projects in 18 metropolitan and regional local government areas.” Mr Harris added.
A new round of funding is currently open. For more information visit https://www.veterans.nsw.gov.au/heritage/community-war-memorials-fund/
